Blank Card:
Start by showing the blank front of the card. Ask the children what they see (a plain white card). Use the color white to talk about purity and sinlessness and that God is perfectly pure, or holy.

Spot Card:
Open the card up showing both the blank section and the section with the spot. Ask the children what they see now. Most will say they see the dark dot. Some will say they see a lot of white and a small dot. However they answer, draw attention to the dot. The card you have now is twice as big as the one I started with, but the thing that catches your eye is the small dot. Use that to talk about sin. It only takes one sin, no matter how small to make someone unfit for Heaven. As if that wasn’t bad enough; each of us were born with a sin nature. We were born separated from God because of that sin nature, and we commit more and more sins to make matters worse. The problem is that there is nothing we can do to get rid of that sin problem on our own.

Cross & Empty Tomb Card:
Close the card and show the back with the cross and empty tomb. There is nothing you can do to get rid of your sin, but there is something God could do. Take time to share the gospel message. Make sure you include that Jesus was a perfect man, his death was payment for our sins, his burial, and his resurrection.

Turn to the Clean Front Card:
It's not enough to know that Jesus lived, died and rose again for you; you have to make it personal. Share a salvation verse of your choice such as John 3:16 or Acts 16:31. Take time to carefully explain what the child must do to have their sins forgiven AND the promise contained in the verse: their sins will be forgiven, they will no longer be separated from God, they will become part of God’s family, etc. Share a sample salvation prayer they can pray. Tell them that if they want to pray that prayer or learn more about it to come talk to you after class.

Teaching Tool:
You can also use the visual to teach your class how to share their faith. Go through the story, but have the children tell the parts as you show the blank page, the page with the dot, and the page with the cross and empty tomb. Encourage the children to make their own sheet and share the illustration with someone this week.
